Maada Launches Maada & Fatima Bio Foundation

The Maada and Fatima Bio foundation was officially launched in a well-attended event in London. The foundation was set up as a vehicle for the Sierra Leonean diaspora to contribute to health, education and youth projects in Sierra Leone. It also seeks to focus on local, community based projects that focus particularly on gender equality and women’s rights.

The Foundation was set up by Julius Maada Bio and his wife, Fatima, in the knowledge that many in the Sierra Leonean diaspora were often generous in supporting less advantaged communities back home, but found it hard to find information or organisations that could help them.

Speaking at the launch Maada said:

‘This Foundation is not about politics rather it is just part of our civic responsibility as citizens to ensure we provide a conveyance through which children, women, youths and communities will be supported by various interventions’.
